10-Day English Language & Business Communication Retreat

  • Gozo, Malta | 29 October–8 November 2026
  • €1,500 per person | Maximum 3 participants | ONE PLACE REMAINING

Boost your English with a holiday in the sun!

You already know English. You can hold a conversation, understand people perfectly, and even use English regularly at work and in everyday life.

But then, in situations that really matter, the right phrase doesn't come. When the pressure is on, you hesitate. You know what you want to say, but you can't find the right words, and your confidence slips. And deep down, you wonder what impact this is having on your career, your clients, your personal brand or your ability to make connections in real-life interactions.

It doesn't have to be that way...

English may be learned in lessons, but it's perfected in real life.

If you find yourself freezing when you need to speak in fast-paced environments or high-pressure situations, this intensive English language and Business English retreat in Gozo, Malta is your opportunity to try something different.

A retreat with a difference.

This isn't a traditional English course - there's no fixed curriculum, no coursebooks, no classroom. Think of it as an intensive Business English and communication coaching retreat, combined with a holiday on one of the Mediterranean's most beautiful islands.

You'll spend ten days immersed in English, with focused coaching, guided conversation practice and real-life communication activities. The retreat is designed around you and your English. We'll identify the situations where you currently struggle and work on the language, vocabulary, pronunciation and communication skills that will make the biggest difference to you.

Just three participants.

This is deliberately a very small retreat, with a maximum of three participants. You'll have plenty of opportunities to speak and ask questions; more importantly, you'll get personal attention and feedback on the specific areas of English that matter to you - without disappearing in a class of 20 other students.

You'll spend ten days with two other ambitious professionals who, like you, want to become more confident and effective communicators in English. You'll get to know each other, and support each other as you go on this journey together, and hopefully make lifelong contacts who can continue to cheer you on long after you've left Gozo.

Who is this retreat for?

This retreat is for professionals who already have a good level of English but want to become more confident, fluent and effective when communicating. It could be right for you if you:

  • use English regularly at work
  • work in an international organisation or with international clients
  • attend meetings or give presentations in English
  • need to communicate confidently with senior colleagues or clients
  • sometimes struggle to find the right words when speaking spontaneously
  • understand English well but don't always feel fluent when speaking
  • want to improve your Business English without sitting in a traditional classroom
  • want to sound more natural, confident and convincing in English
  • know that your English is 'good enough', but you want it to feel effortless

The retreat is particularly suited to B1–B2 English learners, although the personalised nature of the programme means that activities can be adapted to your individual level and goals.

This isn't a beginner's English course. You should already be able to communicate in English and understand everyday conversation.

Why Gozo?

Gozo is one of the Mediterranean's best-kept secrets. It's a small island that forms part of Malta, but it has a character all of its own.

You'll find beautiful scenery, crystal-clear waters, historic villages, excellent restaurants and some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet.

Gozo is also rich in history. The island is built around the Citadel, an ancient fortification that has protected its residents for centuries, and is home to the UNESCO-listed Ä gantija Temples, among the oldest free-standing structures in the world.

And because English is one of Malta's official languages, you'll have plenty of opportunities to use English in everyday life.

Road signs, restaurant menus, shops, cafés and public transport all provide opportunities to practise.

Gozo is small enough to feel welcoming and easy to explore, but there's plenty to discover. You can have a coffee and a pastizz in a village café and, just a short journey later, be swimming in one of the island's beautiful bays.

A mild climate

Gozo's Mediterranean climate means that throughout the year we experience beautiful days, mild temperatures and plenty of opportunities to enjoy being outdoors.

And even when the weather isn't perfect, there's something rather lovely about slowing down, exploring the island and enjoying Gozo at a quieter time of year.

This is the Island of Joy, and I think you'll understand why when you get here.

Accommodation

You'll have your own private bedroom in a beautiful, bright three-bedroom apartment in Fontana.

Fontana is one of Gozo's smallest villages and is just a five-minute walk from the bustling St George's Square in Victoria.

The apartment is fully air-conditioned and includes:

  • a modern, fully equipped kitchen
  • cooker
  • fridge/freezer
  • microwave
  • Nespresso coffee machine
  • kettle
  • toaster
  • dishwasher
  • cutlery, crockery and cookware
  • comfortable lounge area
  • smart TV
  • balcony
  • private rooftop terrace
  • views of the Citadel
  • laundry room
  • washing machine
  • Wi-Fi

The apartment is just a few minutes' walk from the Victoria bus terminus, where you can connect to all parts of the island using Gozo's bus network.

We're also just around 2km from Xlendi, a lovely seaside town with restaurants, bars and one of the island's most popular swimming spots.

A retreat led by someone who understands professional communication...

I'm Jane Roberts, a CELTA-qualified English language and communications coach with more than 25 years' experience in senior corporate communications roles across Europe and the Middle East.

Before becoming an English coach, I spent more than two decades helping leaders communicate with employees, clients and stakeholders in large international organisations. I've worked with senior executives on presentations, speeches, change communication, difficult conversations, employee engagement and high-pressure communications.

So I don't just teach English. I understand what it's like to have something important to say, and need to say it clearly, confidently and convincingly in English.

Today, I combine my corporate communications experience with my English language coaching expertise to help ambitious professionals become stronger communicators. And during this retreat, you'll have the opportunity to work with me intensively for ten days.

What does a day on the retreat look like?
