Communications coaching

Communication just could be the skill that decides who gets promoted, and who gets left behind.

  • Did you know that communication consistently ranks as the single most important skill for leadership? It's more important than accountability, strategic thinking and trust, according to an analysis of thousands of leadership assessments.
  • It's also the number one skill searched for on LinkedIn, and has remained in position even as AI Skills have surged.
  • Research shows that human skills like communication and emotional intelligence  are actually becoming more important in the AI era.
  • And 91% of employees say their boss lacks strong communication skills - and they trust them less because of it.

Put simply: those who stand out as ready for leadership aren't necessarily the ones who work hardest or know the most. They're the ones people can actually understand, trust, and follow. They can communicate well, and that's a skill that can be learned and developed.

The point is that if you are hoping to move into a leadership role some day, or you're already in a leadership role but wondering why your teams aren't responding well to you, communications coaching might be the best investment you ever make.

"Jane is a world-class coach. Her ability to open your mind to new perspectives and introduce practical approaches is truly remarkable. Her extensive experience in communications and personal branding is invaluable, but what sets her apart is her natural ability to understand, connect with, and guide people."

Imane, U.A.E.

"But I'm already good at communicating!"

This is common - we all think we are good at communicating. In fact, research on senior professionals has shown that they rate their own communication skills higher than almost anyone else in the organisation - often in the high 80s and low 90s, percentage-wise. The uncomfortable truth is that you are probably not judging yourself accurately, and your personal brand, performance and opportunities for career growth are being impacted as a result.

None of us has reliable access to how we actually land when we communicate, because we can't hear or see our own blind spots. That's not something a book, podcast or online module can fix on its own. You need a trusted outside perspective.

What coaching helps you build:

  • Executive presence. Become known as the person who always says the right thing at the right time. People listen to you, they trust you, and they give you a seat at the table.
  • Managing upward. Get better at communicating clearly and confidently with senior stakeholders, not just your own team. Learn how to distil messages into the right format for senior leaders, so that you are taken seriously every time.
  • Difficult conversations, handled well. We all need to have difficult conversations now and then - and they are tough. Learn how to give feedback, how to push back, how to deliver bad news, how to diffuse conflict and how to manage workplace politics and personalities.
  • Grace under pressure. Learn how to stay calm and collected, even as the panic sets in - whether that's the nerves before you make a speech or an unexpected crisis where everyone looks to you for guidance.
  • Public speaking with impact. The people who can stand in front of an audience and keep them interested are the people who are going places. It doesn't matter how nervous you feel - compelling public speaking is a skill you can learn.
  • Trust and gravitas. Master the art of visible leadership and clear, consistent communication so that people want to follow your lead in good times and bad.

How coaching works:

Coaching is one-to-one, and built around your real challenges. We don't look at hypothetical scenarios - together we will analyse your actualy conversations, presentations and relationships. We'll identify your challenges and blindspots and build some practical frameworks that you can use to learn, to improve, and to develop the key skills you are missing. Your time with me is yours alone - and you dictate what you wish to work on so that you're ready for any challenge. My job is to use my communications expertise, and my years of experience working with senior executives in large global firms, to help you find more effective ways to establish your presence.
